The Cross Hole (CHA) analyzer allows
to control integrity of large diameter piles.
It consists of a main unit, transmitter, receptor,
two devices for depth measurements and
specific software for data processing.
Concrete (cast in place) piles must be
provided during casting with PVC or steel
pipes embedded in the pile shaft. Test proceeds
after concrete hardening by lowering
a transmitter along one pipe and a receptor
along the other (at 180 degrees with it). The
transmitter emits a long wave frequency
signal that is read by the receptor to identify
discontinuities within the concrete mass
between them. The test is run from top to
pile tip. Various pipes can be installed to increase
pile scanning efficiency. The larger
the pile diameter the larger the quantity of
pipes to install.
